At Magee's Bakery, we know you want great quality and great taste, and we guarantee you'll get both. We may be Frankfort’s oldest and most experienced bakery, but we don’t rest on our laurels. We strive every day to make our products better than they were the day before, and we use only the best ingredients to make all of our baked items from scratch right here in our store.
Magee’s is known throughout Kentucky and beyond for our incredible Cream Horns. In fact, we often have customers visit us from cities far and wide just to get a batch! If you’re planning a wedding, birthday, anniversary or other special event, we can custom bake your cake(s) and desserts. Please place your order about 30 days before your event to ensure that your custom cake is ready for you!
Our History
Magee’s Bakery opened in Frankfort in 1955. At that time it was one of seven stores owned and operated by the Magee’s Bakery chain based in Lexington. In 1969, Thomas Schwartz – who for 14 years had worked for Mr. Magee, purchased and assumed operation of the Frankfort location.
Mr. Schwartz’ son, Charles, started working in the bakery under his Dad’s guidance when he was 16 years old. Now - more than 40 years later – Charles is the sole proprietor of the family-owned business and he personally bakes everything Magee’s sells. Stop in and say hello to Charles and his wife Alice for a wonderful experience in a Frankfort landmark and, of course, Frankfort’s best bakery!
We are open Tuesday - Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
